Thanks for stopping by! I am currently a linguist working in industry as a Language Data Scientist at Amazon and a Courtesy Research Associate at the University of Oregon. I received my PhD from the University of Oregon in Linguistics with scholarly foci in sociophonetics, corpus phonetics, and psycholinguistics. I like all things linguistics, including data and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
research interests
How is linguistic variation structured within and across social groups? What knowledge do listeners have about how this variation is structured? How do listeners’ previous beliefs and experiences about socio-indexical structure impact speech processing? My research program uses computational and experimental methods to understand the representation and processing of variation. Drawing on sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and corpus phonetics I seek to uncover connections between social structures, language variation, and listener perceptions.
